The 3 C’s: Clarity, Control, Commitment

The brain loves safety—away from threat, toward reward. While it also enjoys a good challenge, the ever-increasing complexity of the world can feel like a never-ending game of whack-a-mole, leaving us reacting to everything instead of acting where it matters. Teams, in addition, operate in their own little ecosystems of chaos—balancing external demands for delivery and performance (hello, KPIs) while trying to adapt to shifting markets, unpredictable customers, and team members who seem to shuffle in and out like pieces on a chessboard. Creating more Clarity, Control, and Commitment is as a strategy to give teams their safe space back—and the power to act with purpose, not just react to the noise.

What Are the 3 C’s?

  • Clarity is knowing what you’re doing and why—because guessing is fun in charades, not in team meetings. It’s about purpose, direction, and making sure everyone’s on the same page. It sets the stage, making risks and opportunities visible, and drawing our circle of Control.
  • Control isn’t about nailing down every detail (you can’t control everything). It’s about creating stability by owning what you can influence to manage uncertainty effectively. Knowing what we can control makes us more confident with our Commitment.
  • Commitment fuels motivation and trust, key drivers for teams to thrive. It boosts dopamine, sparking action and satisfaction. By aligning on shared goals and building trust, teams can reduce stress, embrace growth, and act confidently—even in uncertainty.

How do we keep teams grounded, connected, and moving forward, even in a VUCA* world?

Coaching Context For The 3 C’s

These coaching contexts highlight just a few key areas where teams can benefit from focused support

Purpose & Identity

My Way

Teams thrive when they know their purpose and how they fit into the bigger picture. Uncovering strengths, mapping out priorities, planning, and keeping the team focused on the finish line—so they’re not just busy, but impactful, in their very own way— gives them a greater sense of control.

Communication & Collaboration

Say It Right

Fostering feedback culture, improving communication loops, and bridging gaps between leadership and teams is a cornerstone of trust, collaboration, and emojis living in harmony. When we trust, we can easier commit.

Managing Change & Motivation

Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger

Navigate shifting dynamics, embrace inherent flexibility, and regain control by focusing on what teams can influence. Especially in unpredictable waters, a continuous improvement (kaizen) mindset gives teams more clarity for commitment and greater sense of control.

why it works

Because sustainable team growth starts with how people think, relate, and make decisions together. Brain-based coaching leverages how the brain naturally learns and adapts—focusing on clarity, positive reinforcement, and self-directed change. It creates the conditions for insight, alignment, and real progress. That said, none of this happens without stretch. Teams still need to train for and master what’s within their circle of control. You don’t have to do it alone. I’d love to design your next session with you—tailored to your team’s unique needs—so you can make the most of the journey ahead.
